| President’s MessageBy Ron Lloyd
Even those of us who thrive on change or travel take comfort in our rituals. The other day I watched George Clooney in Up in the Air and marveled at how much I relate to him. He is the consummate road warrior - different hotel room in a different city, but the same ritual. He has a process for packing his suitcase and one for getting through security quickly. I remember those days well. Whether I am home or traveling, I seek comfort in repetition and things that are familiar. Lately, so many of us are finding that as the world around us changes, so do those little things that give us comfort, and so we have to change. The rhythm of our business, the names or types of our clients, the way we deliver product and communicate with clients are all constantly changing. It can be unsettling, even scary, but if we don’t change the way we do business, we won’t be doing business any more. So here I am, looking at my business and the changes that need to take place. Although I want everything to stay the same, some things just have to change.
Employee Spotlight: Max Ker
He is the best in his field and always keeps us up to date on the latest products and technology. He loves competition and the thrill of the catch. He really does believe, “The best minute I spend is the one I invest in people.” His life is full…. He and his wife Cristin, have a twelve-year old daughter, Emma, and two seven-year-old twin boys, Jacob and Sam. The little time he has left after work, he spends duck hunting, cooking, fishing, running, coaching three soccer teams, skiing, and with his family.
Max and Ron recently returned from the International Roofing Expo in New Orleans. They said it was very well attended and could feel the excitement of the crowd, especially after the Big Super Bowl win. Max and Ron attended quite a few educational seminars and brought back a renewed enthusiasm. Strategies and solutions were discussed for recovering from tough economic times. They came away with specific solutions to focus on that were relevant to the challenges that we are facing today. They are both looking forward to applying these principles and spreading the positive energy. Increases in Roofing Material Prices
With that expectation, homeowners and general contractors have put pressure on roofing contractors to decrease prices. But, while pressure to decrease costs continues, costs of doing business keeps going up. So, somewhat baffled, I announce to you, yet another roofing materials price increase. Due to the decrease in the supply of raw materials, along with higher costs of transportation and manufacturing, all of the major shingle, ISO-foam, and cements and coatings manufacturers have announced a price increase effective mid-February. While we continue to look for ways to cut costs and increase efficiency, we at RR Roofing are determined to continue to provide the same level of quality, service and integrity we have always provided. So if you want a fully licensed contractor, with a professional team who stand behind their work, you may have to pay a little more, but in the long run, I think you will find it is worth it.
